Garmin Candence Sensor does not work.

I've got several bikes so I have 2 Garmin Cadence Sensors. The good one pairs to my Garmin 510 easily. The other one will not pair at all. New battery, I removed the battery and turned off the Garmin. Tried to start from scratch several times but the 510 just won't recognize it.

Replace with a known good battery. Ensure that cadence sensor is switched on prior to detection.

The battery is brand new right out of the package. I've got a battery tester and it shows that the battery is very strong. What do you mean by "Ensure that cadence sensor is switched on prior to detection." ?? How do I switch on the cadence sensor?

There's no switch, so this means bringing your Edge within 10' of the sensor then follow the instructions for pairing.

I've done all of that. This is a cadence sensor that is a little over a year old. It's worked great up till right now. I just assumed the battery was dead so I replaced it and it will not pair with my Garmin 510. I tested the battery that was in it and it showed borderline between good and weak. The battery that I installed is fresh out of the package and the tester shows very strong. Before I throw this sensor away I just want to make sure I try everything possible before I give up. I called Garmin and it's past warranty.

I couldn't get my cadence sensor to work with my VivoactiveHR.

Finally I figured it out. On the watch I had to go to settings, then the sensor, click on that, next move the crank rapidly in the freewheel direction and BINGO. Naturally with a time delay (GRRRR)

That was/is good for the duration i.e. till I stop the Bike Tracker app. Then repeat the same routine for the next leg of the session

So more to figure out.
