ANT+ signal distance

Is it possible to track speed/cadence data from another bike (my kid's) or is the pairing distance limited to a couple of meters?

ANT+ reportedly says 100 ft max, but no need to meet the specification...

Typical ANT+ don't work beyond 5-10 meters, on the assumption that there are no obstacles.

Happened to me I got home from a ride, left a bike in the garage, got up to a second floor to my "man's cave" sitting in front of PC, the ANT+ connection was still alive (within that 3-4 minutes time frame the sensors goes to sleep)
