If no-one can help can someone tell me where to find warranty claims lodgement so I can send it back? The garmin "find help" section is useless & the store I bought from said it has to go back to garmin direct. Thanks.

Unless you own and use more than one generation of iR device, you should only need one of these. The Earthmate app supports the legacy devices (for example, Explorer+) and the Mini. The Explore app supports newer iR devices starting with the 66i. 

Although…

I'd say they still haven't rolled it out completely - probably no work done over the weekend.  I still haven't received the update but I am on 15.40 beta which seems to work fine.
