GFC 500- Electronic Stability Protection

I'm a CFI at a flying club that has multiple C-172s with the GFC 500 installed. What's the best way to disable ESP for when we need to do maneuvers for a flight like steep turns... and when disabled does ESP remain disabled until it's manually re-activated?

In addition to the already mentioned excellent support article, and because there are multiple equipment configurations for the GFC 500 in the Cessna 172, it is important to also refer to the applicable FAA Approved GFC 500 with ESP Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS). The one specifically applicable to Cessna 172 series aircraft should be carried aboard each GFC 500-equipped C-172 aircraft in your club, but is also always available here.
The information you are looking for is on page 4-12. If disabled by the pilot, ESP will remain so for one power cycle of the autopilot system.
