Because Garmin is a publicly traded company (GRMN), they don't disclose future plans. This is in compliance with SEC regulations. New hardware and features are announced in their official press releases…

Same. I have actually used the light on my 8 a few times, but carry a flashlight with me everywhere I go and could totally do without it. I don't expect my Rolex, Omega or Breitlings to have a flashlight so I don't expect my smartwatch equivalent to either.
