Instinct Solar gradually losing functionality

After performing well for over a year, over the last few months my Instinct Solar Standard watch has gradually lost functionality.

First it started turning off completely during activities (despite being well charged), then it no longer measures solar intensity nor re-charges, then it doesn't detect sleep (while HR and movement is still captured), now the calorie counter is indicating calories burned over night are higher than for a full day!

I have tried many suggested fixes e.g. turning other functions off, turning off vibrate, updating software, deleting activity files, howling at the moon, etc etc but things just seem to be getting worse.

The software version is 19.10 and I am located in Australia (maybe it's a southern hemisphere thing??) .

Up 'til now I have been really happy with all of my other Garmin products.

Any advice (other than re-purposing it as a fishing sinker!) would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, I'd purge the folder //GARMIN/Activity on the watch (or clear the activity History)…
