Heart rate recording inaccurate when pool swimming.

I've had my Instinct 2x solar for 5 months and used it regularly for tracking pool swims amongst other exercises. Lately the heart rate tracking just doesn't seem to pick up or takes up to 40 minutes into my swim before it jumps from around 80 to around 130bpm where I'd expect it to be. I'm wearing the watch as tight as it needs to be and haven't changed anything.

Any help/ideas please?

  • Colder water than earlier perhaps? That would lead to the peripheral vasoconstriction, limiting the accuracy of the HR sensor. High skin tan, after the summer, could be another reason. Tattoos, hair, dirty glass over the sensor,...

  • I’d suggest you have a chat with Garmin Support. I’d be surprised if your pool water temperature changed so much so suddenly that it would cause issues associated with vasoconstriction. You could try cleaning the sensor and also resetting the watch by holding top left until it shuts down-keep it held through the alert.

  • Thanks, I'll give the reset a go first
