Tide chart not showing low water times and tide graph just straight lines between high water

Hello

For about the past three weeks my Solar Surf tide display has been displaying only high tide times for my location. The location is correct and the high water times are correct, but the low water times have disappeared. Consquently, the tidegraph doesn't show the peaks and troughs just a relatively straight line between high tide times.

I've tried a power on/off but that doesn't change anything.

Everything else on the watch is fine.

Anybody else have this problem?

Robert

  • To see whether it's a watch issue or an issue with the data-provider you could try a different station. Easiest to just hit in coordinates from some location (right click on google maps on a place anywhere in the world slightly offshore is a good start).

If you provide coords + name for your spot I can check whether my watch shows the same.

  • Hi - sorry for delay - I've been away on a business trip in Europe. It's clearly a data issue. Where I was, in Germany, the watch showed both high and low tide times and the chart showed the normal tide cycles - highs and lows. Back home, and only high tides are showing. My approx location is 51.487750, -2.797902 - the closest UK standard tidal port is Avonmouth - only 5 miles from my town - https://www.tidetimes.org.uk/port-of-bristol-avonmouth-tide-times

Any help appreciated, I've yet to try another coastal location here in the south west of England.

Does anybody know the source of tide data Garmin uses?

  • Yes, I 've been having the same problem here in Chichester.  Wierdly, if I put in coordinates manually for a spot nearby the graphics work, but when I use the GPS to set the location I get the issue.
