Hello Instinct Solar customers,
Please read the instructions below to update the software for your Instinct Solar device. We've made some changes to how we deliver beta updates for our customers, so this forum post is now the primary resource for reading the change log notes – they are not available on another webpage. We look forward to your feedback!
18.54 Change Log Notes (changes since 18.51):
- Reverted GPS changes that potentially caused delays in acquiring a GPS fix and recording inaccurate position data.
New Software versions listed are in red.

- GPS: 5.50 **Please read note below**
- BLE/ANT: 3.02
- SNS: 22.07
Instructions for updating software:
- Download the .zip folder containing the update HERE
- Connect the watch to your computer.
- Unzip and copy the included gupdate.gcd file to the Garmin folder on your watch.
- If there is a SensorHub_XXXX folder, copy the GUP3467.GCD to the Garmin\RemoteSW folder of your watch.
- Disconnect the watch from the computer and it will prompt you to update software.
Note: This update will revert your GPS sw back to v5.50. In order to accomplish this as expeditiously as possible we recommend syncing with Express to obtain the updates.
- After updating to v18.54 your GPS sw will initially show 6.10(!).
- You will need to sync a second time in order for GPS 5.50 sw to be sent over. Express will send it immediately and is the preferred path. If you choose to use GCM the GPS update should come down within 24 hrs. If you record any activities while your GPS version shows 6.10(!) you will likely experience some abnormalities. Again, syncing with Express is the fastest and easiest way.
- Once your GPS is back to 5.50, it will be in a state similar to a brand new device that hasn't used GPS before, so do not be alarmed if your initial tracklog looks a little off.
