Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa! This is my first post here.
Today my post relates to my much-loved flame-red Instinct completely “falling over”. Earlier this week, after a full charge (which normally lasts a few weeks), I woke up to a dead watch. This was after only 2 day’s use.
I charged up to 100% and this time it only lasted half a day. After the last altitude fix, I was confident that I’d never have another problem but this is 100x more serious than altitude problems. The watch is no longer usable and I cannot record more than a 2 hour mountain bike ride.
It is currently running 18.10 firmware and this is the first time I’m taking notice of the fw version. It is also the reason I’m posting here. 2 Tickets logged with Garmin SA have been ignored after the 2 day SLA. This surprised me after getting same-day support with the altitude issue.
The 1 year warranty ran out on 15 October 2022. Talk about bad timing. I’m still hoping this is only a firmware glitch and I can rollback.
To date I’ve had some amazing adventures with my Instinct. According to Strava, 2,588km. Here’s hoping I can soon bed down the problem and get back to adventuring.
