Body battery estimate while charging watch

Why does the body battery charge level drop significantly faster when I am charging my watch's battery than it would in the same amount of time on a typical day?  In other words on a normal day from 8am-11am my body battery would remain stable or drop slightly (5-10 points) during that period.  When I remove my watch to recharge its battery between 8-11am, the body battery level drops significantly (25-50 points) in a similar amount of time.  Shouldn't the estimate be more like an average of the same timeframe from the previous few days?

Things like this make me feel body battery is just an arbitrary number used as a selling point vs. an actual science based data point...
