Crash During Swimming: Phone Connect/Disconnect?

Almost every time I swim, my watch crashes.

  1. With pool swimming, the crash terminates the activity, which is saved without the last 300-400m (watch in Home screen).
  2. With open water swimming, the crash makes the watch reboot (Garmin logo screen), then giving the chance to resume the activity (watch in paused Activity screen).

I believe the bug is linked to phone connectivity: when swimming, the bluetooth does not work in the water, so that the watch periodically connects/disconnects according to one's arm position.
This kind of crashing does not happen during any other kind of activity.
Is there any plan to solve it?
Is it possible to automatically disable phone connectivity only during swimming?

My watch is a Garmin Instinct Dual Power (Japanese version of the Instinct Solar), software version 17.01, with phone connection enabled (Smart Notifications/During Activity/Show All)

  • You can use the Power Manager, setting up a power mode for swimming with the Phone feature (BT) disabled. Or (on non-solar devices without the Power Manager), you can turn off Phone quickly through the Control menu (long press the Light button), or set up a hot key for it.

  • I am sorry there is an issue. It was determined the likely cause is low memory. Please delete the contents of your Activity folder on your watch at least once per month. If you record activities often, delete the contents of the Activity folder more often.

The next official upcoming software update that you will receive for your SE Asia region watch will contain improved software that is meant to address your issue.
