Instinct solar won't let me exit out of an activity

I had started an activity 'Yoga', but even after finishing, the watch wouldn't let me go back out to the list of activities to choose another one. If I press the GPS button after exiting out to the main screen, it only brings back into Yoga again. I've reset my watch three times, havent been able to resolve this. It's massively annoying. Has anyone been able to fix this?

  • I am unsure of the exact behavior but assuming you were able to stop, save, and sync your Yoga activity in the past, but now the activity is indefinitely running, there are two steps to do to correct it.

    Please try the following:

Hard Reset: Hold down your top left power button until your watch shuts off then let go once off.

Factory Master Reset: How to Reset My Garmin Outdoor Watch

If the master reset did not resolve your issue, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region.

  • Hi, I just bought a new Garmin Instinct 2 Solar and encounter exact same problem as user 1245337 (above). First I got stuck in the activity 'bike', which means that whenever I press the button "GPS" to go to the list of activities, automatically it went to "bike" and I couldn't get to the list to choose another activity. Then I did a hard reset - didn't work. Then I did a factory reset - that did work. However, when I choose another activity, namely "walk" it did exactly the same. Do you have a solution for this, other than a hard reset? I reached the point that I will return my Garmin because this is honestly quite frustrating. Best regards, Lucas

  • Not sure I understand. Are you telling that pressing the button Back does not bring you back from a non-started activity back to the list? Or did you already start the activity? In such case you indeed cannot select a new sport, unless you stop the running activity.

And if a single short press of the GPS button opens the last selected activity without showing the activity list, then it could be a slightly stuck button causing double contacts. If it is a new watch, it may go away after pressing the button a few times. If not, then I recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com.

And if the watch is already older, or was used in salt water (or in heavy sweat), then drip the watch for half an hour to a container with clean lukewarm water, and see whether it helps to unstuck the button. And if it does not help, then again, contact the Support - a replacement may be needed,
