Instinct solar inaccurate sleep

I've had the solar instinct for a good few months now but the sleep tracking is way off. Some mornings shortly after waking it will be slightly more accurate then an hour later or later in the day it is way off and the times I'm struggling to sleep (every night for several hours) it says I've been in light sleep all that time plus some actual light sleep. My fitbit was more accurate but still not perfect it's just with the fit it, charging every 5 days was a pain. I like how long the garmin lasts between charges but accurate sleep monitoring is important to me and I'm sure, many other people too.

Is anything being done about it? Surely they cant leave it like this?  The garmins are expensive

  • I am sorry there is an issue. Most of your Sleep metrics come down to how well your OHR sensor is reading you. Your watch is also using your accelerometer sensor for movement. You can try adjusting the fit of your band and changing wrists too.

If you continue to have issues, please reach out to Outdoor Product Support in your region for further assistance.

  • The same thing happens to me too with both my Instinct Solar and my old Vivoactive 3 which I have been using for 2 years. The count changes several times within one hour after waking up.
Furthermore, if you sleep well, the device tracks your sleep correctly, but if, as in my case I suffer from chronic insomnia, you sleep badly, the watch tracks as awake only the moments when you actually get out of bed: if you are awake but quiet in the bed for the device you are sleeping. In case of insomnia with prolonged awakenings during the night, the device does not even recognize when you went to sleep and you have to manually change the start.

So I think these devices are not good for people with insomnia. I also had a fitbit in the past that was better in these respects, but otherwise it was terrible.
