Poor Battery life

I bought the instinct solar about 3 months ago. First month the battery lasted about 25 days. I had the heart rate on 24/7. GPS off and exposed to quite a large amount of direct sun. Second month no change. However now the battery only lasts 3 days. There is much less sun. Iam doing more exercising but this is all indoor stuff so no GPS. About 3 times a week up to 1 hoir at a time. I still have heart rate on 24/7. Pulse ox is off and as far as I can work out I’ve turned down or off any functions that I do not need / use but still no effect on extending battery life. Any suggestions or solutions? As far as I’m concerned Garmin customer service is not great. First contact they just sent links to the manual. Second contact they did the same. Not impressed by this as they should have given me specific advice or basically said to return the watch. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • How is SW in your watch? You can try reset?

  • Sorry to hear of your problems. Your best bet is doing a reset via holding the top left key, or a full reset including loosing all data, or sending the watch back to your dealer or the Garmin support.

No, they do not do a great job. Both here in the forum and tech support wise, it's a lot about sitting things out and wearing down the paying customer. Don't let anyone here bs you by saying 'there is no problem, you are the problem' just because they, apparently, don't have a problem.

It could be a software issue, or a hardware issue, or a mix of those, and it affects many, but by no means all Garmin watches. This article on 5kRunner could be helpful: https://the5krunner.com/2021/02/10/garmin-battery-woes-continue-to-spread/

  • I am sorry your Instinct Solar battery has developed an issue. It sounds like you have already been in touch with your region's Outdoor Product Support. The types of Support Center articles that Product Support will normally send out in response to an issue are often the resolution that addresses the issue. There is not always a solution if it falls under a hardware failure.

Your battery may very well be defective and your Instinct Solar needs to be warranty replaced. If the Support Center articles you were given by your region's Product Support did not resolve your issue, please do not hesitate to let them know so you can have your Instinct Solar warranty replaced.
