I'm planning to get Instinct because it is similar to a G Shock.
I don't know when was the first Instinct released?
Any news about the next generation?
Ant recommendation will be appreciated.
Thank you

I don't think much like G-Shock, about as similar to a watch ... Instinct is the first generation and now you are in Instinct Solar and it is the second improved generation, new chipset, solar charging, etc.
So do you recommend not to wait and get Instinct Solar?
Any similar G shock variant you recommend?
Thanks
Definitely Solar, I'm very happy. Instinct 1st gene was not so good. Solar is already much improved.
Thank you..
May I know the advantage of Instinct solar over the regular one?
Any better features?
It measures blood oxygenation, solar charging, thanks to the new chipset much longer battery life and other small things.
Hello,
I just crossed over from a G-SHOCK Rangeman GW-9400. From the first day I unboxed to the day I sold it, it simply worked and worked like a tank.
With the Instinct Solar, at least for now, I'm not so sure.
See the link I posted below. It had been a bit disappointing, vis-a-vis my G-SHOCK experience.
G-SHOCK definitely loses out in terms of feature and software support (none needed for the one I came over from). If you compare the mechanicals and the reliability, G-SHOCK was a lot better than Instinct Solar.
If you do take the plunge, do try to get a US unit as the firmware support is way faster and more responsive staff.
See this: https://forums.garmin.com/outdoor-recreation/outdoor-recreation/f/instinct-solar/264911/apac-clients-considering-instinct-solar-correct-as-of-2nd-june-2021/1269786#1269786
Hope this helps you to go in with eyes open. To be fair, I believe not all Garmin product teams are the same. There are at least the Fitness team and the Outdoor within (which Instinct Solar is managed by).

You have solar charging + better battery life due to improvements with sensor hardware (pulse ox & GPS chipset) but by and large, it pretty similar.
But think of a battery as a water tank of sorts, with an inlet (charging) and outlet (discharging)
For a G-SHOCK with solar, the outlet is tiny. So with solar, I never needed to top up. See this guy's review: for more extensive coverage.
For an Instinct with solar, the outlet is understand-ably "larger", because of all the features. So even with solar, unless you're out sunning yourself in 50,000 lux sun, every, single, day (literally. I'm not kidding), you should prepare to charge every several weeks, again depending on your use. At the max , you are looking at 56-61 days of use: but that's if its gets enough sun AND not use anything else.

My wife has a Vivoactive. My brother and wife has Forerunners. And I've had a Instinct Solar and now an Enduro.
You are looking at the Tactix Delta, Enduro, Fenix series. If you can afford, go up to even the MARQ, Descent, D series
Anything less than these series, as an ex-GSHOCK user to another G-SHOCK user : I think you would be disappointed.
Go for at least the Enduro or the Tactix Bravo or Charlie.
Thank you so much for the comprehensive replies. I appreciate!
I have many G shock models, and I really adore the GW9400, but they feel outdated once you compare them with any smartwatch.
I don't know why Casio doesn't produce smart watches G shock without that crazy price point. I have a mixed feeling about the newly released Wear OS watch. Besides the high price tag, Wear OS is in the stage of total modification after the new Google Samsung venture.
I wish Casi has its own OS like Garmin, so I can trust their longevity.
GBDH1000 is a great watch but still lacks behind any Garmin smartwatch. I'm not gonna torture my watch, So durability isn't my priority at this point. Moreover, I own more than 30 watches, and I merely use each one for merely "days" every year.
Do you recommend Instinct Solar or GBDH1000?
I never tried Fenix before. Is it similar to the Instinct? Is any new generation upcoming?
Thanks...
If you can afford 30 over watches, then most definitely look at the MARQ , Tactix Delta , or Fenix 6X Pro.
Having come from a GW9400, there were 4 things that stood out for me:
With the Enduro now, I get close to what I'm ok with. Charging every 2 months (battery saver mode, i.e. dumb watch mode) with an hour or so of GPS use is something I can live with. The stainless steel bezel is also quite "knock" proof.
What do you value or need from your watch?
