Instinct Solar - battery lasts on average 12 days

Bought a Garmin Solar Instinct new four weeks ago. Firmware = 13.20 and I'm only getting around 12 days battery life before requiring a charge.

My wear use specifics are:

  • It's on my wrist pretty much 24x7 - I use the sleep monitoring. I do not have Pulse Ox on! Pulse Ox is switched off.
  • I use it to monitor my HR; sleep patterns; steps; body battery & stress.
  • Syncs to phone occasionally. (I don't have phone alerts on though)
  • Have been on roughly 3 x 50 minute walks a week with GPS only setting on during the walk activity.

I would have expected battery life to be more than 12 days for the general use of the watch.

Appreciate battery life and usage is a complex issue but I'm not a power user - but would like to take advantage of more of its options at some point - but given the current battery life I'm not optimistic.

Could I have a defective unit?

  • Im having the same problem. When I first charged the watch it showed 28 days, however it now only shows a max of 12 hrs when fully charged and i dont have many apps open and i havent used GPS - any ideas

  • Same here…. Great watches but this is the second watch I have had issues with. My last watch died after two years… gutted as I love garmin.  Did you ever get the issue sirted

  • Just so everyone can stop whinging about battery life.  Your watches are 100% better and more effective than any other so called watch on the market, all the other smart watches need to be charged at least everyday, your Garmin doesn't, it is a fantastic tool, please don't worry about battery life.
