Instinct Solar - battery lasts on average 12 days

Bought a Garmin Solar Instinct new four weeks ago. Firmware = 13.20 and I'm only getting around 12 days battery life before requiring a charge.

My wear use specifics are:

It's on my wrist pretty much 24x7 - I use the sleep monitoring. I do not have Pulse Ox on! Pulse Ox is switched off.
I use it to monitor my HR; sleep patterns; steps; body battery & stress.
Syncs to phone occasionally. (I don't have phone alerts on though)
Have been on roughly 3 x 50 minute walks a week with GPS only setting on during the walk activity.

I would have expected battery life to be more than 12 days for the general use of the watch.

Appreciate battery life and usage is a complex issue but I'm not a power user - but would like to take advantage of more of its options at some point - but given the current battery life I'm not optimistic.

Could I have a defective unit?

Hi Benthad, that pretty much matches my typical usage AND battery life. So if you ask me, looks "normal" .. .

As you write, it's pretty little. For me, Solar will last about a month. If I use GPS a lot, then for 14 days. My settings are the same. Updates once a minute on watch faces. The last time I charged on March 12 and today I'm charging and it was 20% there. GPS activity today 7 hours and previous days together 12 hours. There's a whole thread about endurance and charging. When I'm in the sun, I have 2-3% more in the evening than in the morning! That's very good.

I bought the watch 8 days ago. I applied a full charge and the widget indicated 100% / 24 days remaining. I run 30mn per day, and around 1 - 2 hours of sunlight per day. After 8 days the battery widget indicates 60% / 34 days remaining. This seems to be a little bit strange. Have you understoud the meaning of the battery widget ?

It's alright. Vidget shows prediction of use under the same conditions. It's that you were in the sun. If you weren't, the prediction of days is smaller.

That mean that it romains 34 - 8 = 26 days ?

That's not how it counts. :-) You were in the sun, it takes into account the charging of the sun. It is described here many times. It is a prediction of current use and sunlight together. If it stays the same.

Thanks. So it would mean that if I have 50% / 35 days remaining, the capacity of the watch after a complete charge and the same use would be 70 days ? I will see after few weeks of use ...

Yes exactly. I also had 221 days on about 70% battery last summer.

I am having the same problem, and I am a very similar user.

The problem for me specifically is: when I first got the watch and fully charged it, it showed 24 days of battery life. Now when I fully charge the watch, it shows only 12 days of battery life.

Curious that the battery life now is only half of what it was.

My garmin instinct solar was purchased brand new 5 months ago.
