Surf edition tide data

Since 10.10 update tide widget has developed issues. I have tide data on watch face. Regularly this now shows 'no data' or 'retrieving data' when Bluetooth connected to phone. Sometimes the widget disappears entirely and is just a blank space on the watch face. Today, it has not updated after low tide to indicate time of high tide. I've restarted watch and issue remains.

UPDATE

Tide time updated to reflect high tide exactly 1 hour after low tide. I am UK and currently BST so I wonder if there's a bug and its incorrectly reading time zone?

I have been told it is a software issue and would I like a refund?....The tide function has never worked on my surf solar and now if I try to access tides either through current location or saved the watch powers off and reboots.....i live on the coast but was up in the mountains last week and suddenly I find i have tide data for my location which will never see the sea unless we have a dramatic earthquake and the mountain range plummets into the sea....not impressed...I love the other functions but are unsure how long I should wait for the software issue to be repaired ...Garmin Aus have told me its an engineering issue and basically don't hold my breath for it to be solved any time soon.! Has anyone else had similar issues or should I get my money back and try my luck with a later edition of the surf solar?

    Thanks

    - I am sorry you are both experiencing hide tide information issues. If you choose to keep your Instinct Solar Surf edition watches, we are gathering more examples for those that are experiencing the issue. Our engineers are looking into the issue to get it resolved.

I am sending you both a private message to respond to. Thank you.

  • I have the same problem. The tides are not right.

  • Hi Chris,

are the tide data of the instinct solar surf taken from the Garmin tide widget? If, yes, the tide data on my Fenix6xPro solar are way off, too:

    Garmin tide widget:

Official tide data from the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH):

And here the tide data from a Garmin bluechart map:

The BSH and the Garmin bluechart map tide data almost match (for time), but the Garmin tide widget is way off.

They also almost match with the tide data from the source "5763729" has posted/linked: tides4fishing.com/.../oldenburg---drielake-hunte

  • Same here! Widget now totally stuck. The data when I open the tide function is bang on though, however no use whatsoever if I cant have it on the watch face of my instinct surf to glance at quickly. They need to do a customized watch face just for tides like they do for the other stuff on here and not just a widget in the top corner.

  • Thank you for the heads up on the Tides widget data. The Tide widget pulls data across the internet from World Weather Online. Whatever the source of the issue, engineering is working on resolving it.

  • Hi Chris,

seems to be fixed for Instinct Solar Surf with fw 11.00 beta.

”[Surf] Fixed issue where tide chart field on watch face could show incorrect next tide time.”

    Or was this another issue?

The only known issue regarding the Instinct Solar Surf has been the high tide issue that some customers have experienced in very specific locations in some parts of the world. Based on what Beta v11.00 is showing, our engineers are in the process of resolving it and as long as Beta v11.00 works well, the full software release fix is coming soon.

Chris....I hope you are right...my solar surf has been returned to Garmin for replacement...I have never been able to get tide data on the watch and after installing 10.10 the watch rebooted after accessing satellites... I was told it was software originally but now the current thinking is that it is a fault in the watch itself
