I've been struggling with sleep mode (and the fact that it is impossible to disable it being automatic) since I've gotten this watch. I've owned the OG instinct, Instinct 2 and Instinct 2X before and each one of them had issues with automatic sleep mode. In the past I simply accepted that the feature is useless but now I actually want to use it because sleep is a major focus for me.
I've looked around these forums, even those for different Garmin wearables. Every time issues around sleep mode get brought up there appears to be complete silence from Garmin. I'd like to get an explanation why these issues are being ignored.
Just today, having major trouble falling asleep and having to try again after several hours, the watch decided to disable sleep mode automatically THREE TIMES. Each time it woke me up once I finally managed to fall asleep. This is despite the fact that I have previously turned off DND mode during sleep mode in the settings and have started enabling both manually separately. Somehow, this setting has enabled itself.
Why does sleep mode disable itself automatically? In what world is it a good idea for the watch to decide "you're not sleeping" when I have explicitly told it that I'm sleeping? Why is it mandatory to have a sleep schedule when so many people do not have the luxury of a regular schedule? And the weird thing is that I did in fact get a correct sleep time measured. So what is even going on here?
Could we just get the option for sleep mode to be fully manual like it is on Apple Watches for example? It's not like the issues I'm having are unique. People are very consistently submitting the same complaints as I am, both here and on Reddit.
