Auto answer

Hello all…I’m hoping to get some sort of clarification here if it me or not. My phone recently started auto answering calls when I’d raise my wrist to view an incoming message (call alert). Then by the time I’d retrieve my phone, it would be answered and the caller able to hear me. The didn’t happen immediately, and seemed to resolve after an update. But the issue is back. iPhone 14 Pro and 45mm instinct Amoled. Thank you for any suggestions or feedback.

  • None of our Instinct or other Garmin wearables include an auto-answer feature. So if calls are being picked up without you tapping Accept, it's usually coming from the phone side or an external factor. Here are a few things to check:

    1. Restart both your iPhone and your Instinct 3.
    2. Update the software to ensure that your watch is fully up-to-date (you can plug it into a computer and sync with Garmin Express), and confirm that your iPhone has the latest iOS version.
    3. Check the iPhone call settings. You should be able to do this by going to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Call Audio Routing > Auto-Answer Calls and confirm this is off. (These steps may be different depending on your iOS version.)
    4. Consider physical triggers, such as a long-sleeve shirt, that may be accidentally triggering the Accept button on the watch when you raise your wrist. To see if this applies to you, try pulling the sleeves back and do a quick test.

If this issue is still present after checking those things, please let us know:

    • When this issue first started.
    • How often it happens.
    • Whether you can reproduce it with a test call.
    • Any patterns that you notice when it occurs (e.g., every time you get a call, only while actively recording an activity, whenever you're wearing long sleeves, etc.).
