Sleep mode schedule is a hassle!

Garmin - I need to explain to you why the Sleep Mode schedule is really a big hassle, and you can avoid this by letting us just disable the schedule alltogether. (On all Garmin Watches, not just Instinct)

Ok, let me explain.

Scenario 1: I set the sleep schedule to when I actually think I will sleep.

Problem:

  • If I sleep later that night, I will not get notifications at all since watch went into sleep mode.
  • If I wake up earlier than normal, the watch keeps going back into sleep mode until scheduled time is over.

Scenario 2: I set sleep schedule to something like 03:00-03:01

Problem:

  • If I do this, watch will disable sleep mode AND DND at 03:01, and notification might wake me up

Why cant it just be simple. Assign Sleep Mode on a hotkey and I press it when I go to sleep, and I press it again when I wake up. As far as I know, sleep mode doesn't actually affect the registered sleep, so for me, its way more a hassle than anything else.

  • aha good point, getting back into sleep mode after waking up. Especially after some activity is triggered - was going for a run, and when I would get back it would drop into sleep mode and disconnect syncing of the activity with error, because my sleep mode setup this way. I agree it is very strange that it forces back into sleep mode according to schedule after it was set to be finished manually.

I would say Apple did a step further - if they detect active moving they drop a gentle notification that "you woke up? maybe get out of sleep mode and disable the alarm". Thats attention to detail. I missed that on Garmin watches to be honest.

Did you report it as a bug? But yes of course, Garmin would say its "Feature suggestion". so, I guess what we can do is suggest a feature, as they will obviously tell this is by design. They did this for many years as I remember.
