Fast battery drain on version 17.07

Check if your heart rate monitor is dysfunctional, too. This update definitely botched something, and we need to provide as much data to the software folks as possible.

I've tried these steps and unfortunately has not improved the situation. I am using my Garmin exactly how I was before the 17.07 update and am seeing drastically reduced battery life. Are you able to share if Garmin are aware of anything specifically related to the 17.07 update that might be causing this and whether we can expect a fix? Or is the advice at this stage to contact support directly?

I've tried troubleshooting several times, but nothing helps. The watch drains about 5-6% of its battery per hour of use. Please help me fix this battery drain issue.

Are you saying this is not a firmware issue?
Are all these people lying, perfectly timing their complaints to the update date?

Same here on my Instinct 2X. At first I thought the battery was dead, so I ordered a replacement from Aliexpress – it costs just a few euros and the swap is pretty easy.

But even after installing a brand-new battery, the exact same thing happens: instead of 40 days, the watch barely lasts less than 24 hours.

So it’s clearly not a hardware/battery issue. There must be some kind of software/FW 17.07 problem, because the drain started right after the update and changing the battery doesn’t fix anything.

Just updated Instinct 2 Solar to 17.07 at 89%. Using default watch face, showing 25d remaining.

Off topic, but why do you say the battery swap is easy? You need a technician's full setup (hot air gun, pry tools, soldering iron, precision screw drivers, glue etc. etc.) to do it no?
