I have 18 cm and it's ok.
But I think for 16 cm it will be too big.
Hello 4481464
The instinct 2x band fits wrists with a circumference of 145-228 mm
Try to wear it on 14.5.cm wrist and see how it will look
I have a pretty slim wrist, 15-16 cm, was used to wear the standard Instinct and Instinct 2, but now I have the Instinct 3 50 mm, and would never go back. Way much better readability (finally I can see something on the display), better battery life, and the fit is perfectly OK. At the beginning it felt a bit bulky, but I got used to it within a day or two, and when I look back on the smaller models now, they look like children toys to me.
Can you share the photo of I3 on your wrist?

This is made with a phone's wide angle camera, so making it worse than it really is:
This to close to the watch. Can you make photo from 50 cm or so?
Because my thinnest wrist part is 178mm and it looks a bit big (see picture below). But my old Instinct 2 Solar 45mm looked just right.
Can you make photo from 50 cm or so?
It is from 50 cm, just cropped. Anyway, in reality it looks quite OK, and especially it fits well, and works perfectly.
I wanted that topic starter can see whole picture but not cropped one.
The recommendation in the owner's manual is to wear it above the wrist bone. By above, they mean 'behind' and not 'on top of'. The wording could have been better but the image in https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-31D23DBB-57C2-4DF7-A0C9-8D1A00AB4BE7/EN-US/GUID-F2E7E0A9-FB44-4297-BF4D-D0C31C400C45.html depicts it correctly.
https://www.garmin.com/en-US/watch-fit-and-care/ also mentions a two finger width gap for accurate HR readings.
