Altimeter/Barometer Issue

Hello,

After my swim today with my Instinct 2, I noticed that the altimeter and barometer readings were completely inaccurate. Currently, my altimeter is showing an altitude of -7322 meters, and the readings keep fluctuating, as shown in the video below.

I’ve performed a soft reset, rinsed the watch in hot soapy water (~45 ºC), and completed a calibration using DEM, but the issue persists. Does anyone have any suggestions for a solution?

Seeing as a calibration hasn't helped and you've cleaned the port, I'm going to put my money on a hardware failure thanks to water ingress. Sometimes things break, and no amount of QC will catch everything…

I would check the sensor port opening with a magnifying glass, and see whether there is no moisture, dirt, or debris. If you find it is clean and dry, and the reset did not help, then contact the Support - the sensor may be damaged and the watch may need to be replaced.

It’ll never be completely spot on or reliable. It’s a consumer grade sensor that is subject to several environmental factors, like moving air on the sensor, pressure changes with weather, etc. I’m satisfied if it’s reliably within a couple hundred feet of true elevation.

Contact Garmin support and let them know what you've already done. They will likely send you a replacement.
