Problems after the update

On the first activity after the latest update (16.10), the Instinct 2 Solar just freezed and I had to perform a hard reset. After that, all the sensors are not working, battery is draining (100% a day even with solar charging) and the watch is restarting every time. Anyone else facing this?

  • Power off and on. If that doesn't help, do a reset.

  • Sounds like bricked firmware update, which can happen for example if you forcibly power down the watch before it fully updates. The update process can take up to ~10 minutes in some cases, so if you performed the hard-reset while the watch completed the main firmware update, and was trying to install the Sensor Hub Firmware component (SNS), you probably bricked it.

You can try fixing it by performing the master reset to factory defaults (frankly told it is rather improbable to help), or by installing an old roll-back firmware version (must include also the SNS firmware, though, otherwise it won't help) from a side-load beta version package (search the posts on the forum Beta Program » Instinct 2 » Announcements, but it is not certain it helps. I rather recommend reaching out to the Product Support through their website at https://support.garmin.com
