Similar watch with replaceable battery

Hi there,

can anyone recommend a watch similar to Instinct 2 but with replaceable battery perhaps from a different manufacturer? Because throwing away your perfectly fine watch because of dead battery seems a bit ridiculous. I mean I see how this increases sales on the short term. But in the end I think it will just ruin Garmin's reputation.

Hardware (sensors and components, ICs, buttons, gaskets etc.) could possibly go faulty/deteriorate over time which can cause the software to malfunction but ageing is not applicable to software by itself…

Sadly, that ship has long sailed with all electronics device manufacturers, at least as far as 'user' replaceable batteries are concerned. What you can do is order a battery from Aliexpress etc. and take it to a good mobile repair technician to get it replaced. If you have the tools, you can try to DIY by watching one of the many videos available on youtube.

Instinct will hold battery around 5-7 years. I dont think watch software will be perfect after so many years. Many people who have Fenix 5 have software problems now

What Garmin should do is design the watch so it can be opened more easily, like some of the older Fenix models.

I think Garmin should offer some trade-in / recycling to reduce e-waste.
