I would like to ask for help with elevation measurement.
The subject is a Garmin Instinct 2X Solar Tactical.
My problem is that the watch is recording an extremely unrealistic, unreasonable altitude drop - and - rise during cycling activities. The reason for this is that the altimeter "snaps" many times during the activity, dropping from the actual altitude to below 0 meters many times, and then the watch resets itself back to the correct altitude. The anomalies reported here occur very frequently, and basically I get completely wrong and incorrect data on the elevation reached. By the way, the watch does not make these errors outside of cycling, for example when I wear it at home or at work in the office.
I have linked activities where the problem is clearly visible in the elevation field. The problem is significant, e.g. Garmin says I reached 5,122 metres of elevation in one activity, whereas the real value is only about 700 metres. I am very frustrated.
I regularly clean the barometric hole in the watch under running water so it is not clogged or dirty. The watch runs on the latest software, I update the software regularly, both via wifi and Garmin Express.
The altimeter on the watch works in automatic mode. The barometer also works in automatic mode. What is happening to my watch?
