GPS accuracy issues

So my watch isn't tracking the distance for mountain bike rides well under tree cover. Drawing a straight line between switchbacks is causing a reading of nearly a mile less on a 6.5 mile ride. Any GPS settings that I can change for GPS to be more accurate?

Might I also suggest changing the 'Data Recording' to 'Every Second': www8.garmin.com/.../GUID-1500E73F-F386-49AF-A542-25D4B1655A08.html

Make sure tracking is set to every second. And if you have the 2X, also use multiband gps on all the time.

Just to piggy back on this thread rather than start a new one.

Did 2 rides with Instinct 2. Wahoo recorded distances as 107km and 65km. Instinct recorded them as 105km and 64km. However the GPS tracking on the Instinct was spot on. No points missed that I could identify. When I exported the GPX from GC, it exported the routes as 107km and 65km. I have edited GC activity file accordingly but wondering why this would happen? GPS + Galileo activated for one ride and GPS + Glonass for the other.

Sorted this today. In case it happens anyone else, the issue was a speed sensor I had on front wheel. Probably not calibrated correctly. Wahoo didn't use speed sensor data but the Instinct 2 did. Removed sensor and got matching distance files today.
