Instinct 2 solar GPS accuracy suddenly worse

My husband has an Instinct 2 solar. I have a Venu 3s. We walk together often. This week his watch is giving him noticeably more distance than mine. Yesterday it was insanely off. He was at a mile and I was at 0.40. Within like 50 feet more his watched beeped 2 miles... He stopped and discarded thar activity. Rebooted. It's better but he's still atleast 0.06 off from me. And his map is showing him zigzagging all over... To the point of crossing streets and being on top of buildings. What changed? Any ideas?

Are you in Europe ? Is the cpe file „current“ ?

Is the CPE "current"? (system - info). Did you wait for a good GPS fix before starting the activity?

I'll have to look at his watch to see. But yes we waited. He's done a few activities since reboot and I suggested he wait even after it locks in. It locks in really quickly. And we've haven't changed the area of our activities, no travel or anything.

This is first time I hear about CPE, seems like Garmin hasn't heard about it either because Instinct 2 manual doesn't cover it. Neither of my Instinct 2's list anything under CPE: and Current: in the About section in watch settings. And apparently this list is refreshed regularly with sync with Garmin Connect, which both watches do many times per day.

My GPS use is limited to an occasional coordinates sync, since that's the only way to have a perfect, down to a second, time sync (despite the watch being connected to the phone all the time, but let's ignore that small inconvenient fact).

That said your post and the replies made me look into CPE as I never heard of it before. And I can't see anything about it in the Instinct 2 manual. I do see "CPE" and "Current" fields under System -> About but neither of those fields is populated.

I see CPE: Current as well on mine.

I'm not sure what you mean about occasional coord sync? Do you not use your GPS for activities?

I'm not sure CPE needs to be in the user manual does it?

Make sure the GPS/Satellite setting for the activity is not set to UltraTrac.
