Custom watch face and custom data field during workouts - Garmin Instinct 2X

Hello,

I have a Garmin Instinct 2X. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this. When I have a custom watch face selected, then start an activity, let's say walking, with a custom data field to count steps, when I click the back button during activity, it takes me out and shows me the first stock watch face available when you are first setting up your watch, and not the custom watch face. Once activity is stopped and saved, when I get out of it, then it shows me the custom watch face again. I don't think that was happening before before I added the custom data field to count the steps since for some reason Garmin thinks there is no need for that out of the box, or to check on your phone app after the workout is done. In the end it's not really a big deal, but was curious if anyone else ran into the same "issue".

Thanks :)

Yes, it's been that way for me for as long as I can remember - not just the most recent software update.

Since no data are lost, and the watch returns to my CIQ watch face (Glance Instinct) when the activity is done, I have just been ignoring it.

I do agree it is odd that Garmin make us use a CIQ Data Field for Steps - it is illogical that they have not included Steps as an available data field.

  • Ah ok. Thank you for letting me know. I have had the watch for just over a month and finally added the steps data field and was wondering if it was a glitch, which it looks like it is, but like I said, it goes back to the custom watch face from the IQ store afterwards, so it's ok. Thanks again Slight smile
