Instinct 2X Battery charge not going down since 15.08

Hello!

After updating my Instinct 2X to 15.08, I charged the watch to 100%, and since then (4 days of smart watch mode use and no exposure to sunlight), the battery has not gone down at all. Also, at seemingly random times, the battery life estimate showed the infinity () sign instead of a number of remaining days, again indoors and at night. I have tried restarting the watch multiple times but to no effect.

This leads me to believe that the watch is not properly recognizing the battery charge, since the battery life estimate does update when for example turning on the torch or using GPS.

Anyone else has the same issue?

  • Keep it running without charging and report back.

  • Try manualy restart. My Descent G1 Solar (based on instinct software) had same issue. Manually restart and now it seems he is fine again.

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. The infinity symbol would indicate that there is sufficient battery charge for this to last indefinitely. This could be accurate if you have the watch in battery saver, even if it has been a few days since charging. However, if you are seeing this draining fully, but never showing the battery level, I would recommend the following steps:

    • A hard reset. For this, hold the Control button until the watch shuts off, as opposed to selecting power off. Then power this on again.
    • If this continues to drain without showing the battery level, I would recommend completing a factory reset with these steps:

  • Hi! Quick update: My watch does this now after every full charge, and I am not using power saving mode. The infinity symbol is there for ca. 5 or 6 days until it changes to a number and from there on, that number goes down each day as expected. I still think this should be regarded as a software bug, since, as long as the watch is losing charge (which is the case if it is neither plugged in nor exposed to any light), the expected number of days remaining should still be finite and give the user an idea of when they need to charge the watch again.

Still, thank you for your reply.

  • I also have some problems after the latest software 15.08. With the previous software 14.something i usually get daily battery drain of around 2-3 percent. With the new software when it is charged to more than 90% i get 1 percent drain per day. When it drops to 50% i get 5% daily drain and when it is near 35-40% i get almost 10% daily drain.
