Downloaded Golf Course Not Displayed on Watch

Hi there,

I recently bought an Instinct 2 with the knowledge that I’d be able to get distances on the golf course after having pre-downloaded a course through the Garmin Connect app. I did so but when I start the Golf activity and allow the GPS and Transferring Data screens to process all it says in the Select Course screen is “Download more through the Garmin Connect app”. I have only downloaded one golf course. Please help as to how I might fix this?

I am sorry to hear you are having this issue. Initially I would recommend to try removing the downloaded Golf course from the Connect Mobile app.

    • Android: Press and hold on the course and then select REMOVE.
    • iOS: Swipe left on the course and then select Delete.

Once this has been deleted, I would recommend completing a hard reset on the watch. For this, hold the Light button until the watch shuts off, as opposed to selecting power off. Then power this on again. Once this is connected and syncing with the Connect app again, download the golf course again.

Then try starting the Golf activity again. If this issue continues, feel free to reach out to me via Private message.

  • Update: A soft reset did not fix the issue. However, after deleting the course from the Garmin Connect app, conducting a factory reset of the watch, and then re-downloading the course, I was able to see the pre-downloaded course. Thanks for the help.

  • I just got an Instinct 2 solar and I’m have the same problem with the golf app.   I could see courses downloaded the first time I tried the Golf activity, and then only after resetting the watch.   It seems that the last course played stays on the phone and I don’t see any other courses that have been downloaded.   If I do another system reset it will then update all downloaded courses but then I lose any customization on the watch and have to re-sync after the reset.  Please advise.  Thanks.

  • I did all of that and still have not been able to get it to work :(

  • I had a similar problem. Downloaded multiple courses in the Garmin Golf app, my watch (Garmin Descent G1) did not recognise any. Then I noticed there is the same option in the General Garmin Connect app ('Download Golf Courses'). This time, the courses showed up on the watch. So it might be that you need to try one or the other app to get it to work.
