Instinct 2 stuck on software 12.26?

I just updated to an Instinct 2 (standard) from my instinct 1. I am 5 days in and love my new watch and the upgrades, but I don't have them all. My watch says it is on software version 12.26. I see the latest version is 14.12. Garmin connect has been saying I am up to date. I at this time do not have a windows or Mac machine of my own to use express. Is there a reason my watch is not updating? Is there a way to get connect to check for updates?

Since your watch is more than 1 software version behind, it can prevent the Connect app from pushing the latest update. You can try removing the watch from the app, and re-pairing this again…

Thank you very much. Removing the watch and re-adding it did get it to load the update. Thanks!

Since your watch is more than 1 software version behind, it can prevent the Connect app from pushing the latest update. You can try removing the watch from the app, and re-pairing this again. If this does not automatically locate an update, the only way to retrieve the update would be using a computer, and updating this with Garmin Express.

The reasons may vary. As Garmin-Laurie wrote, the old firmware may contribute, but also insufficient room on the watch storage, missing connection to the phone, or missing internet connection in night hours (i.e. because of Battery Saver), or a corrupted download file may be other reasons.

The simplest way to check for updates is with Garmin Express on a Windows or on a Mac computer - often you can use even a public one. Another possibility is installing the firmware manually. If you go to the Beta Program forum (see the top menu here on the forum), there are installation packages for side-loading diverse beta versions. Each package always also contains the previous stable version (fall-back). So you can install the 14.12 version from the beta 15.xx beta package. Installation instructions are included on the forum and in the package.
