Surf app to goes back to the watch face screen every time I get a wave

When using the surf app to track my surf, it seems that every time the watch records a wave, it goes back to the watch face screen. The surf app keeps running but I the watch goes back to the watch face. I'm using a instinct 2 standard.

Anyone seeing the same issue?

Yes, when I'm doing a long distance ocean paddle the watch wont stay on the GPS screen but reverts back to the watch face.

So to check my GPS screen I've got to hit the back button to bring up the GPS screen. Which is a pain when you're out down winding in 30knots of wind!
