Instinct 2 Solar Charging

Hello,

Just received my Instinct 2 Solar. I keep getting a slash through the solar icon after a very brief segment of charging. I have tried researching what it means, but no luck. Sometimes it even happens when not outside as you can see in the photo.

Did it start working? On mine this is what worked even though I'm on the latest software update.

From another Garmin forum:

"After each time you charge your watch, please long hold your top left CTRL button until your watch shuts off then let go of the button. When you power your watch on again, your solar charging will function properly again."

This is a bug that started somewhere after version 12. It totally disables solar charging after being plugged in to the charger, and the only way to re-enable solar charging is to restart the watch as mentioned. Although garmin said they fixed this bug somewhere in version 14, it seems that the bug has still persisted for some.

The fix that has worked for me is to revert to version 12.25, which is the last reliable version that I've found with the features I need. I also turned off auto updates. It's pretty disappointing and frustrating that this issue is still present after a number of updates.

Thanks for letting me know about the 12.25 version. I might do the same thing. I agree it’s very frustrating and surprising that they haven’t fixed it with the updates. Thanks again.

same problem here. Solar charging was fixed for a while with 14FW but now with beta 15FW I have to restart watch after usb charging in order to get solar charging
