I don't observe any bleeding on my watch (non-tactical version). It is probably a cosmetic defect but you better contact Garmin support for advice.

Edit: I see it too, under max. brightness setting of the white light.

it is same on mine. could it be problem with water resistance?

Talked to customer support they said it’s tolerable and they think exchanging it wouldn’t make a difference as they think they’re all the same! So they know about it but just said basically “ehh” to it. 

I hope it not gets water damage beacuse of this. And if it do hopes garmin replace the watch

Hahaha bro it's the same on my non-tactical 2X, so I tried to disassemble the watch and find out the reason. Guess what, the screen and the top glass are not sticked to each other perfectly, and the “refractive index matching glue” overflow from the gap between the screen and the Gorilla glass. As a result, the light from the LED goes easily through the transparent glue and we see it. The refractive index matching glue is mentioned on the "Garmin technology" page of the Garmin website, and I can't imagine they just let it overflow from the gap, I can even touch the glue and it sticked on my hand, that's kind of disgusting. After all, it doesn't affect the waterproof function, but I just feel that Garmin really didn't do a good job on instinct series, I really feels ashamed for them.

On my Garmin Instinct 2X Tactical watch, I also have this backlighting. I don’t see it as a flaw, but rather as a directional guide for navigation during activities. Enter the direction and go.

Dude are you serious? How can this leaked light GUIDE you anyway?
