Instinct 2x Solar Tactical

Hello Garmin, for months you are aware of the problems with the Instinct 2x Solar Tactical. Many customers have complained. Nothing happens! It can't be that difficult to release an update that solves the problems with the permanent Bluetooth disconnections and the extremely quiet system sounds that you can't even hear when the watch is lying on the table and you're only two rooms away, all the doors are open and neither the radio nor the TV is on. If you don't want to or can't release an update, then at least give us the 500 euros back for this [moderator edited] watch! What kind of "outdoor watch" is this, where the Bluetooth connection is constantly broken, you can't make an emergency call through it and you can't hear the alarm sounds? The watch is so unreliable that it does not deserve the designation "Tactical"!

  • You can't say that. It may be that users also have various problems with the Garmin Instinct 2 Solar Tactical. I have never had Bluetooth connection problems with my Garmin Instinct 2 Solar Tactical. With my Garmin Instinct 2x Solar Tactical, however, I constantly have Bluetooth connection problems. And I use the same cell phone. I have already uninstalled everything according to instructions from the support, also in the Bluetooth settings of the phone my Instinct 2 Solar Tactical from the list, so that the Instinct 2x Solar Tactical was installed from scratch again. And still there are the problems. For example, the Bluetooth connection always dropped when I activated the phone's camera and did not automatically re-establish itself when I deactivated the camera. But this problem seems to have been fixed now. And yet, the connection keeps breaking. Twice a day, at a guess. And because the system sounds of the Instinct 2x Solar Tactical are so quiet and a message appears in the display of the watch for only a few seconds when the connection is interrupted, unfortunately, you usually do not notice that the connection was interrupted again. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this to be able to say what the reason could be.

That does not sound like it could be caused by the watch, it looks rather like a problem on the phone. If it is an Android phone, I recommend checking various battery optimizing options. On some brands, sometimes people had to enable and use the Developer options to tweak some settings of the phone, to get it working properly (for example so-called Gabeldorsche Bluetooth stack, DOZE options, etc.). In other cases, they had to update the phone firmware.

Have a look at the Sync / Connection Troubleshooting Guide - it contains a large collection of solutions that is known to already have helped some users. Unfortunately the Android OS at different manufacturers, or even on different models of the same brand, has too many mutations, hence there is no miraculous one-solution-fits-all, and you will have to try even the less probable tweaks to find where your problems come from.

I would start with analyzing the Device Sync Audit reports and the sync and debug logs on the watch, and I would also test whether the same problems occur also on another phone, of a completely different brand. From what I see here on the forum, the most problematic brands are Huawei, some Samsung models (though I had two of them with no issues), and surprisingly also Pixel, so avoid those for the testing.
