Change sport key shortcuts

I'm not sure if this is the best place to report bugs but....

I have the hot keys setup so that GPS and down is change sport, I've used this for multisport events however I've noticed changing sport sometimes crashes the watch.

Yesterday I did an event with 10 sport transitions, using the hot keys, I switch sport profiles at each transition. This worked well up until about the 8th sport, then the watch seems to reboot a few minutes into the new sport. When the watch reboots, the activity restarts but in a paused state which is kinda annoying.

So the questions are...

- Is there a limit to the number of sports than can be added in this way?

- Is there the possibility of adding an option for "Auto resume after reboot"?

- The multisport profile allows you to setup a profile with the sports in advance but is limited to the number of sports you can add, could this be expanded to infinite amount of sports?

- Could a transition option be added to the "Change sports" menu, similar to the way you can set transitions in the multisport profile?

Unrelated to this, I also have a Edge 130+ and tried to use the Extended Display function for the biking sections, it just showed blank on the Edge and then the edge rebooted, I don't know if this is an edge problem or an instinct problem.

  • My instinct 2X crashed a lot.... For example when I change the "light" set up during an activity, it crashed. When I zoom the map in or out during an activity, it crashed... Even when I loaded the navigation maps before go riding, it crashed... The watch is obviously an half finished product.

It does not seem to be the case. At least not anywhere that low. I tested a Multisport activity, using the Change Sport feature, and recorded an activity with 26 legs without any issue.

I suspect the full storage of your watch might be perhaps the culprit. I recommend removing all old files from the folder //GARMIN/Activity/, soft-resetting the watch (syncing, and then holding the Light button for ~30s till it shuts down, then restart), and then testing it again.

And I recommend doing the same (Activity folder clean-up, and a soft-reset) before any important or long activity. Soft-resetting the watch prevents the crashing due to a memory leak, which (if it exists) is more likely to happen and crash the watch, if the watch was not restarted for a longer period of time.

  • Great tips, I'll try this next time, I haven't cleaned off old activities in a while so maybe this is a contributor Thumbsup
