Instinct 2X solar charging slows down in full sunlight for no apparent reason

I've noticed that if I let the watch charge in full sunlight it initially maxes out the solar intensity graph but after about 10-15 minutes it drops under 50 and approaches 0. The battery started off at 92% and didn't change. Is this expected behaviour?

  • Do you wear the watch during this time? You should have the watch on your wrist to dissipate the heat. If you expose the watch to direct sunlight without heat dissipation, it can quickly overheat. In this case, the charging of the battery will be interrupted to prevent damage.

High heat can quickly damage the battery or cause it to age prematurely.

You should note that the solar charging function is not primarily intended for charging, and does not replace charging by cable. The solar function is intended to support the battery.

  • Yes, I was wearing it but it was indeed quite warm to the touch (on the watch face). The temperature widget shows a peak of 41C at that time.

Does this mean I shouldn't be wearing it in the sauna?

  • I had an experience similar to yours today, I was in the pool with a lot of sunshine, watch with 97% battery, it was at 43k lux when suddenly it was only with the charging icon circled and no longer charged with the sun, after a few minutes it came back but gained only a few lux and again circled the charging icon and did not add more lux,  The temperature that marked the clock's tempemparura widget was at 40 degrees, and the screen was a little warm to the touch I figured the watch would be overheated so it wasn't charging anymore. But I got into the pool, the clock was already very cold and the problem remained the same. I had lunch and an hour later the same thing... I reset the watch and everything was back to normal! Now I can't tell you what happened and I was here in doubt too! Does anyone have any idea what happened?
