Battery replacement - glued or screws only

Hi,

I have a question: does anybody know if Instinct 2 body is glued together or it can be dissassembled only using screws like fenix 5?

background: I recently have really bad experience with garmin's glued watches. My battery died, so I had it replaced but service warned be there is no warranty for being waterpoff after battery replacement. It worked well, but then I forgot for once for this, went swimming and watches died day after it..

Glued. Although there is Instinct 1st gen in the following video, Instinct 2 is built almost identically:

Oh no.. and do you know about instinct 2X? There are four screws clearly visible at front side

I do not know, but if there are screws, then I would assume it is screwed

However - it won't be much better with the guarantee of the water tightness after exchanging the battery - if the seal is not done properly, leaks may occur. I'd recommend using only service offering a warranty.

As far as I know no service offers warranty for tightness after disassembling glued watches. At least none in my location. And I kind of understand that. When gluing even if you make everything right but when it is hand operation leak may occur.

True it can happen even with screws and sealing but chances to make it tight are significantly better. If sealing does not sit correctly, then it should be visible since cover won't sit properly and if you are unsure you can always unscrew it and start over

I wish Garmin wouldn't glue their watches in order to secure customers buying a new watch after the battery died.

They rather should learn from Casio G-Shock how to build a very durable AND sustainable watch, which can be opened for maintanance without fearing any inconvenience afterwards!!!

True. At least Fenix 5 and 6 were different (not sure about 7). Hopefully Instinct 2x could also be the case. I'm trying to find out if the screws on the front are and holding the body together or if it is glued despite the visible screws

I just got a message from Garmin support - all instinct series is glued and battery replacement is not possible. When faulty battery occurs, whole watch are replaced, when the battery is at the end of the life you can throw your watch out :⁠-⁠(

This is normal. How did you expect anything else? Dispose and give more money.
