Instinct 2 Battery after update 12.25

Hi All.

My Instinct 2 Solar battery is draining heavily after 12.25 update. My watch worked perfectly before the update and from one day to the next i use 50% battery per day without activity being recorded.

I have to charge my watch every day or it will die before the next 24 hour cycle.

I have done everything i can, including factory reset on the watch. No difference at all.

Watch is not even 1 year old.

I did the update and didn't notice any difference in battery drain. Is there a possibility that an app or watchface or something you install is not compatible with the recent update? How much the battery…

Unfortunately not. I have never installed any Apps on my device, not even a different watch face. Currently in the region of around 50% of battery per day.

Do a soft-reset of the watch and then let the watch going through the full charging cycle. That's always a good idea after any firmware update, especially if the firmware was updated with a lower battery level, since it then easily tends to decalibrate the battery indicator, and the gauge then shows wrong information.

Thank you for the above. I did the reset where I had to hold down buttons. Issue persists.

however I found the issue I think. The HR no longer flickers when reading my resting HR. It runs solid green the whole time. I think that is where the excessive battery drain comes from.

Try the master reset to the factory defaults (unlike at the soft-reset, you will lose the setting though and will have to reconfigure the watch). If that does not help either, contact the Support.

Hi there...did you solve the issue...my watch has just started draining battery from 28 days to 2 in the space of a day.

Hi.

Unfortunately not. My watch was still under warranty (by 2 months). I took it back to Garmin and they replaced it with a new unit.

Was it definitely to do with the green light sensor being on constantly? Mine is doing the exact same.

No, the green LED of the HR sensor is permanently on (resp. rapidly flashing) on all Instinct 2 watches (and probably on many other models) with recent firmware, and it has no noticeable impact on the battery life. There are some tips in the Troubleshooting guide for high battery drain, so do not hesitate to test them, and do not forget to apply the last one (contacting the Support), if nothing helps.
