Software update has crashed my new Garmin Instinct 2 solar. Anyone else?

I noted that the software was to update today. Went about my business. Now the screen is frozen, watch can't even be powered down using the CTRL button. There is no online help addressing this issue. The Bluetooth connection is off and my phone can't reestablish the connection to the watch. I'm on vacation, hiking/biking every day. Not a good time for the phone to be disabled! Thanks for any words of wisdom or sympathy.

I ran the update (12.26) and noted it should take 1-2 minutes... it took longer maybe 8 minutes. Regardless ensure you give it 10+ minutes to update before doing a soft reset. I thought mine was frozen…

Have you tried holding the top left button for 30s to force s shutdown?

No, this is not normal

This helps! The watch restarts and then finishes the update.

Not always necessary but something to do if you have a problem.

Yes. Found it like this this morning. I recall it had an update message on the screen yesterday. Screen locked with no time or other details, just the Garmin logo and a solid black triangle in the upper right 'bubble'.

I followed the suggestion of the poster above and held down the top left button for 30s to force a shutdown (thank you, @phillipshambrook). This shutdown the watch and tapping the top-left again afterwards turned it back on. Seems normal now though it had 12d left on charge yesterday from memory and is now down to 3d. So updating must have really drained the battery! Everything still seems to be normal, paired to phone, etc. Hopefully yours goes as smoothly.

I can not used the watch as I wanted, when I tried to start an activity the watch shutdown. Do you have any idea what I can do for fix this problem?
