My day - Garmin's math - intensity minutes

1 day - 552 intensity minutes

Is it difficult to achieve this ? No !

Because you earn intensity minutes, although the prerequisites for this are not met:

So all over again :

Garmin's instructions say that intensity minutes are most accurately recorded when you start an activity.

Okay, so I did.

Since I walk a lot during the day, I started the "walking" activity when I got up in the morning because I wanted to record the most accurate intensity minutes possible.

From the time I got up to the time I went to bed, a good 18 hours passed.

Here is the result:

552

---

Can this be true at all from a mathematical point of view ? NO !

Here the data :

My maximum HR is 196.

In Connect, I have "Use heart rate zones" enabled.

For "moderate" I have set zone 4 (so 80-89% HRmax = 157 - 174 ).

For "vigorous" I set zone 5 (so 90-100% HRmax = 175 - 196).

Thus, if I have calculated correctly, intensity minutes should not be earned at all until a HR of 157.

Ok, here is the heart rate graph:

Here again via screenshots my settings for intensity minutes in Connect :

......

Summary :

During my 18 hour recording, I spent just 4 seconds in zone 4 and 0 seconds in zone 5.

HOW can it be then, just mathematically, that I have earned 552 minutes of intensity ?

---

Funny that my tactix 7 pro didn't capture nearly as much intensity minutes. And that, although Zone 2 and 3 is set there.

I can assure that this is not a problem of a particular firmware or sensor hub. The problem exists with all FW versions I have tested so far. Also in the current one. Both, master reset and soft reset do not change anything.

This is a topic for the development department. Not for the support.

Because what should the support do if the watch does not respect the rules of mathematics ?
