Garmin Pay in Instinct 2 Standard version

I've never tried it, but I have a place in my Instinct 2 Solar to set up Garmin pay

It isn't available in the standard version of the watch as of yet, only Solar and Surf editions have it so far.

And I do not think it can be added to the Standard edition, since it likely does not have the necessary NFC hardware at all.

But the standard version does seem to have NFC..

For all the talk that morning report and race widgets have been removed, this a far more important feature that Garmin hasn't made accessible to us, even though the watch seems to have the capability.

Probably just because the entire Index 2 series uses unified firmware, so you're going to have NFC/solar firmware on there regardless of whether the hardware's there or not.

Garmin not enabling a hardware-reliant feature on hardware that most likely isn't there, on a watch that specifically says it doesn't have the feature, is more important than removing existing and advertised features?

Personally I have neither NFC nor WLT listed on the About pages, on my Instinct 2 Standard edition. Or is it from another screen?
