Instinct Crossover: Disabling/deleting HR sensor pairing doesn't do anything

I have paired a Polar Verity Sense to my Instinct Crossover via Bluetooth.

I wanted to test the Crossover against the Sense so I switched its Status to "Off" in the sensor menu.

--> This didn't help, the first thing that was displayed after starting the activity was "External HR Connected" and the internal HR LED went off.

So I deleted the sensor pairing from the sensor menu. It disappeared from the list, as expected.

--> However the external HR sensor is still connecting without a prompt.

Disabling/deleting sensors has been working for me on any other Garmin watch so far. This is the first time and I'm baffled.

Has anyone succeeded in actually deleting a sensor pairing or is this a common problem? Do I need to hard reset my watch?

  • Are you sure you did not also connect the Verity Sense by Ant+ as well as Bluetooth?  Maybe it's still available through the Ant+ connection and you should delete that as well.

    Just a thought.

I also have the Verity Sense connected with Ant+ and have no problem disabling it by simply turning it Off when I want to use another external HRM or the built-in HRM.

  • I verified the problem and could reproduce it. Verity Sense not connected via BLE or ANT+, but can still be found when starting an activity or viewing the HR widget.

However I also found a solution: Rebooting the watch removes the pairing. Yay!
