What's the exact diameter (mm) of the glass surface of the Instinct 2 Solar (tactical)?

Hello there,

I was actually looking for a screenprotecter in advance for my arriving "Instinct Solar Tactical".

I still have some screenprotectors laying around of my old Instinct Solar Tactical. They're 31mm and fitted seamless on that version.

It seems there're are some difficulties fitting a screenprotector on the second version because of a slight bending of the glass. But I also have an old Suunto Core laying around here which also has a slght curve. Had some screen protectors for that one too, and unless the curve, they fitted perfectly.

So maybe someone also has some advise of screenprotectors which handle this curvationof the Instinct 2 Solar Tac. well?

On my Instinct 2 Solar Tactical, the screen diameter is 32.24mm, so probably a 32mm screen protector would be best.

For reference, the screen on my Instinct Solar Tactical is 32.00mm.

Unlike SolTac 1, SolTac 2 has curved screen. If you want tempered glass screen protector Supershieldz is the only option I know atm. If you are fine with softer universal 32mm hydrogel protector then you…

If the crystal is indeed curved (I still can't see it, though) then these would probably be better: Supershieldz PET for Instinct 2

On my Instinct 2 Solar Tactical, the screen diameter is 32.24mm, so probably a 32mm screen protector would be best.

For reference, the screen on my Instinct Solar Tactical is 32.00mm.

The screen is perfectly flat on both watches - no curvature.

My recommendation is not to use any screen protector - on either watch; but that decision is up to you.

Oh! I've read things on the internet that the screen of the instinct 2 solar (tactical) seemed slightly curved?

But 32mm it is! Thanks! Sometimes they advertise with specific screenprotectors for specific types. But I got aware that this are often universal screenprotectors which sometimes don't have a proper fit. So looking for the exact diameter gives the best results.

Because of possible interference on the solar charging? Or by other means?

If it's because of the charging capabilities, I would like to protect my screen, these watches are not cheap. Maybe I will loose a percentage of charging power this way. But when my screen gets scratched or damaged, then it will probably also affect solar effeciency, but the permently.

Unlike SolTac 1, SolTac 2 has curved screen. If you want tempered glass screen protector Supershieldz is the only option I know atm. If you are fine with softer universal 32mm hydrogel protector then you have more options. I'm using hydrogel protector and it has no effect in solar charge. I have tested with artificial UV light.

Definitely use some kind of screen protector as glass in this watch is very fragile to scratches.

I've looked on Alieexpress too already, And came across these hydrogel protectors too, they seem to be decent to protect from decent damage. And the bessel is quite deep, so I guess you must be quite unlucky to get things with full force on the screen. Only thing is that I would like to protect the glass from the moment it arrives. And orders from Alieexpress can take a lot of times for arriving. So I was actually looking to get something fast which also does the job.

So I've ordered the now at the local Amazon:

Just looked for screen protectors for the 32mm diameter, sinse specific screenprotectors for this watch are hard to find for this watch in Europe yet. A lot of them recive low scores, people compaling about a bad fit because of the curved screen.

The one I've ordered now says on the package that it's usable for rounded corners and that it's using silicon adhesive. So I hope a slight curve won't be a problem then.

And I probably could still order the hydrogel protectors later, but I guess it's a bit unnesessary if these also fit well. Guess I need it to surprise me.

I'm 95% sure that those are flat glass protectors and wont fit on instinct 2. I'm also located in Europe and I'm waiting for cheaper option than Supershieldz which is 30e when shipped to Finland from US. Haven't find any suitable from Amazon.de yet...

I can keep you informed with my findings if those will fitt on the Instinct 2, I also just ordered a set of these:

I actually have good hoop for this, especially because the silicon adhesives. It seems I also have somekind of similar screenprotectors (pretty hard surface, so also something like hardened glass or plastic) on my old Suunto Core. And the screen of this watch has quite a decent curve, you can easily see and feel it. And this protector is fiting perfectly.

So I have god hoop, since people here say they curve on the Instinct 2 seems no that verry obvious. So asuming it's a smaller curve then on my Suunto.

I have another question regarding the screen.

I've recieved my Instinct Solar 2 tac today, its a verry beautifull watch.

And the sceen indeed has a slight curve (although not that extreme as my Suunto Core and I had perfectly fitting protectors for that one).

But I also noticed that the bezel has a slight gap to the screen. Like it's not fitting verry well. Maybe it's because of the curved screen. And I don't know if only the solar edition has a curved screen. It would probably had to be perfect fit onwatches wit a flat screen. So not if this is just a universal design "fault"?

Do other people also have this gap on the solar eition between bezel and glass?

A lot of dust and residue can be collected there now...

I'm using these now on my Instinct 2 Solar:

They're quite this, but more flexible because of this.

Orriginally also used these on my Instinct (1) Solar.

They have a pretty good fit and they stick verry good to the glass (complete edge arround).

Again, they're quite thin, so they probably won't be that effective as a thicker one from glass. But they come in a pack of 6, are pretty cheap and this easy replacable.

And I think it's better then nothing.

I'm not sure, but maybe they also will interfere a bit less with solar charging because of their thickness.
