Turn Prompts when navigating

Totally stuck!

I see the connect app for Navigation has turn Prompts. I remember this year's ago working on my original instinct. But here with the 2. I have no idea, and search isn't helping. Can someone point me to instructions or basic workflow to get this working. Is it special gpx files? Certain apps?

I've even no idea if it's phone or watch based????

Create or import a course in Garmin Connect. If using Garmin Connect Web, open the course in the course editor and make sure the "Turn Notification" slider is enabled (I think it's enabled is the default). Click send to device. Turn points will be included in the course file that is sent to the watch.

Next, make sure you have Turn Prompts turned on in the Navigation=>Alerts menu.

Navigate the course and you should be getting TBT alerts.

Ok, thanks. So it's data embedded in the Gpx files I guess.

I'll do this, hopefully get it to work then have a look at what's inside the file that makes it work.

I use locus maps on Android to do my routes currently and use Garmin explore to transfer them.

I'm pretty sure that I've never gotten TBT alerts when using Explore, only Connect.

Was able to test today. Yes I get the navigation features. Never used to get that a year or so ago with the original instinct. I used explore after that for some features (which are now removed!)

Wish they were more consistent.

Anyhow, all is well.

That way I had complete control over any turn and/or location notifications and the Nav Data fields (dist/time to next).
