Resume later crashes on long activities

FW: 8.64

I went for a long ~8 hour hike last week. Several times I paused the watch and used resume later function. When I accessed glances from the watchface while the activity was paused (not on first attempt, I went to see stress and then again to see battery %) the watch crashed. This happened two times. Not only did the watch crash, but hiking activity was somewhat crippled and distance was stuck on 4km. On second crash the activity resumed after crash with... a race timer instead of navigation. After I saved the activity the distance was still stuck on 4km despite having full GPS trail recorded. And for some reason the watch did not record any sun exposuer in GC during this activity.

Anyone else experienced crashes with 'resume later' feature? I'm not sure where to report this, since 8.64 is no longer a beta?

Another 'Resume later' problem surfaced today. I was in a run mid-workout (Garmin's suggested workout, which are awesome btw) and went to buy some water. I used resume later - it took suspiciously long to go back to watchface. I paid for the beverage with Garmin Pay and went back running, but... the workout was no longer enabled during activity.

Boy, Garmin must be overstretched with all those buggy releases recently. I love the watch, but the software is slowly starting to be infuriating.

I had similar issue 2 weeks ago - I've paused 5-6h long bike activity, set resume later. Then after another 2h (we got caught up by rain and had to wait in the restaurant) when I was trying to use Garmin Pay it crashed badly and it took 2-3minutes to reboot, it was stuck on Garmin logo for this whole time. Payment didn't manage to succeed too, good that I had my phone at that time ;). Anyway fortunately after reboot activiity was still there and I was able to continue, I didn't notice any issues with the saved distance etc.

Exactly the same happened today on a hike. Distance stuck after resume - track recorded but distance and splits not updated :(

Yes, it happened to me several times, it's a SW crash that hasn't been fixed for a long time! A soft reset once every 5-6 days will help. Unfortunately, Garmin doesn't pay much attention to the problem, which wasn't there in the beginning.

I feel you bro. Instinct 1 was rock solid for me even on activities that blew battery in one go (8h bike rides with navigation). Instinct 2 is just unstable, but at least Garmin acknowledged the bug. Next time you encouter a crash like this you can prepare in advance and make your watch generate a debug log that can help Garmin pinpoint the issue.
