Copy settings from Instinct Solar to Instinct 2 Solar

Hi all, I get today my Instinct 2 Solar and would like to copy all current settings from my Instinct Solar to it. Does anyone know if I copy settings and activity files (which of course are the same on Instinct 2 Solar) from old Insinct Solar to the new Insinct 2 Solar whether they will apply and will not break Instinct 2 Solar? Maybe Garmin - Chris can answer? Thanks

Given the generational differences, you will need to configure the new watch. If you had warranty replaced the exact same model, technically you could transfer the settings but we still recommend you do…

While it might be possible I would not do it. Always better to start from scratch with a new watch. That's the only way to ensure you have not bought any problems across. It's also the best way to explore…

Given the generational differences, you will need to configure the new watch. If you had warranty replaced the exact same model, technically you could transfer the settings but we still recommend you do not do that on the off chance you are copying a corrupt file into a new watch. It is best to avoid the possibility it could happen despite being incredibly rare to happen.

I don't know how many of the settings files are or are not compatible between the two watches. I would just take the time to setup the Instinct 2 independent of the Instinct 1 settings.

I wonder if anybody tried this method. Some time ago I tried it but without any good result. Before hard reset I copied mentioned files. Then hard reset. After this watch wasn't visible in Windows so I had to go quickly through setup. After that I copied all mentioned .fit files to Newfiles folder. After disconnecting watch from PC it restarted but nothing happened. Watch was exactly in the same state as it was after initial setup. Is there anything I missed?

thanks all, but anyway a short report after copying settings.fit and some my sport fit files with my own datafield configurations to newfiles folder - everything seems to work smoothly till the widgets and controls menu - they seems like are a bit different in a new model, even all sensors are there and connect, so I saved a lot of time configuring all that what I already knew and needed and configured only new things ;)

All well and good but if you have any problems you will need to be clear that you copied settings over from a different watch when you seek assistance.

Was it just simply "copy and paste"?
I tried it with Instinct and Instinct Solar, but the data screen does not update to the source I copy from.
